Meet The Director

Thomas Tsakounis, widely known as Tom, is a lifelong student, dedicated family man, accomplished professional, and the Director of The Association of Multifaith Spiritual Directors. Guided by the Great Commandment in Matthew 22:37-39 – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… Love your neighbor as yourself” – Tom’s journey has been a tapestry woven with a deep commitment to love, service, and spiritual exploration.

Tom’s calling to religious life began in his pre-adolescent years, leading him to navigate a path of spiritual discovery. Faced with conflicting beliefs within his faith tradition, Tom chose to explore alternative paths to serve others and connect with the Divine. This journey led him to earn two master’s degrees—one in Natural Health and another in Community Mental Health, specializing in Pastoral Counseling.

In his quest for Integrative Health, Tom delved into diverse approaches, becoming a Registered Herbalist specializing in Western Herbs, an Energy Work practitioner with expertise in Chakra Balancing and Master Reiki, and a Maryland State Licensed Clinical, Professional, Pastoral Counselor with over a decade of private practice experience. His Adlerian approach to mental health embodies unconditional positive regard, non-judgment, and empathy for all.
